I felt the same as I saw the masculinized woman in the painting. Reminds me of Michelangelo's attempt with women immortalized on the Vatican ceiling. I understand that women were not allowed in those days to pose for artists, so by using male models his women are muscular with coarse faces!

But I thought all of Freud's daughters were quite feminine.
I wonder why he made them look like men?

It's a good study and a peaceful one again...certainly doesn't go in for painting attractive people does he...even if it's his daughter, he might have tried to make her not look so plain...she looks very masculine as well...hmmm...this has been really interesting...thanks for showing these, Kendrive...GBHs...XXX
