Yes, you are right.

As I said the other day, his paintings bring out things that photographs never can - although there is a great deal of very good photographic art.

And, one more thing...you simply couldn't paint like him today...the clothes, the settings, the whole ambience of that era has vanished...I doubt whether he's even considered to be a great artist by a lot of artists and critics nowadays....I do like a lot of other styles of art but Waterhouse struck me as very special....GBHs...XXX

It poses the question: Was she stealing the flowers?

Wouldn't it have been better for her to leave them to grow naturally and give pleasure to other passers-by?

It is very much like a photograph - but better.

Its attraction is all in the composition.

I like the little touches, like the doll on the chair.

Just lovely, and you feel as if you're there...the odd thing is, he avoids twee...:) There's an atmosphere about his work that comes through the paintings...he can transmit emotions wonderfully...GBHs...XXX

:) Very nice portrait, but difficult to tell how accurate the likeness because full frontal..side views are often incredibly different...I've seen amazing looking men and women side view on and when I see them full face, they're not half as good looking...very strange...:) But, it's very nice portrait, and interesting in that it is distinctly a painting rather than one of his completely realistic paintings that he normally does...if that makes sense...LOL...GBHs...XXX
